Quality Technician – Mechanical

Job Description
Our quality technicians assist our mechanical engineers in all aspects of the assembly
and maintenance of mechanical products and systems for the Turbomachinery industry.
The quality technician is responsible for learning best practices for handling and working
with mechanical equipment to apply the newly acquired knowledge into real-life
applications in assisting the Engineering department. The intern will work on identifying
problems where further evaluation is necessary. The intern will learn to exercise
judgment with the use of defined practices in selecting methods and techniques for
obtaining viable solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position will work both with a team and at times individually to ensure all quality
standards are met through the inspection and manufacturing phases of a project. The
technician will mainly support in the following ways:
- Assist in all maintenance and service efforts: overhauls, receiving, assembly,
disassembly, testing, and delivery. - Support the engineering department with drafting, inspection, reports, and
maintaining and organizing technical documentation. - Assist in the assembly/disassembly of complex high precision machinery.
- Learn Inspection/Quality Control Best Practices – Examine production parts for
defects or deviations from engineering specifications with precision inspection
equipment including, but not limited to: Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges,
Depth Gauges, Telescoping Gauges and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE)
methods.
Qualifications
- High School or GED, plus some college courses completed.
- Completed an accredited CAD drafting course (AutoCAD LT).
- Experience with calipers and dial indicators to .001” accuracy.
- Must be capable of reading and understanding cross-sectional drawings and able
to identify all components of an assembly drawing. - Authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Has or able to obtain a U.S. Passport.
Preferred Experience – Not Mandatory
- Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology or similar related field.
- Experience with SolidWorks and 3D modeling.
- Technical knowledge with hands-on experience working on machinery including
automotive. - Troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
- Results oriented.
- Can multi-task and enjoys working on time-sensitive projects.
- Must be upbeat and have a positive attitude.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Has or is able to obtain a U.S. Passport.
- Additionally fluent in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese,
Japanese, Chinese, French or German.
Physical Requirements
Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs.
Work Schedule
Standard workdays are Monday – Friday, 7am-4pm.
