In 1999, two of our turboexpanders (expander-compressor configurations) were installed by ATCO Energy Solutions at their Empress Gas Liquids Joint Venture Straddle Plant in Canada. These machines are utilized in the extraction of NGL from the TransCanada Pipelines Alberta system as it crosses the Alberta-Saskatchewan border.
The turboexpander skid package contained two machines – a 3500 HP EC-500 and a 1500 HP EC-300 – to extract and separate the NGL at a flow rate of 500 mmscfd. These machines have operated for over 15 years without failure. In fact, the spare machines that were sent with the initial shipment have never been taken out of their original shipping crates.
At Simms Machinery International, we design our turbomachinery to exceed your expectations in both optimization and reliability.
