Engineering Technician

Job Description

Our Engineering Technician assists in all aspects of the assembly and maintenance of mechanical products and systems for the Turbomachinery industry. The intern is responsible for learning best practices for handling and working with mechanical equipment to apply the newly acquired knowledge into real-life applications in assisting the Engineering department.  The intern will work on identifying problems where further evaluation is necessary.  The intern will learn to exercise judgment with the use of defined practices in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining viable solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

This Engineering Technician position will work both with a team and at times individually to maintain the manufacturing process and fulfill customer orders by ensuring engineering specifications are met for turbomachinery equipment.  The intern will create and maintain the necessary documentation that will ensure the design is built to proper specifications.  The intern will collaborate with engineers and company personnel to successfully fulfill the needs of each project.

  • Assist in all maintenance and service efforts: Overhauls, Receiving, Assembly, Disassembly, Test, Delivery
  • Assist in all engineering efforts: Requirements, Design, Built, Test, Delivery
  • Assist in the assembly/disassembly of complex high precision machinery.
  • Learn Inspection/Quality Control Best Practices – Examine production parts for defects or deviations from engineering specifications with precision inspection equipment including, but not limited to: Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Depth Gauges, Telescoping Gauges and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods.
  • Help to create solutions to complex technical problems
  • Build and set up equipment
  • Assist in the creation of prototypes
  • Assist in creating build documentation
  • Reviews customer reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Utilize machining tools to modify and create parts

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in one or more of the following or a current or recent engineering student or industrial technology student with one or more of the following abilities:

  • Turbomachinery, Machine Design, Rotordynamics, Thermodynamics, Vibration and Modal Analysis of Structures (FEA), and/or Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Technical knowledge with hands-on experience working on machinery.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Results oriented.
  • Can multi-task and enjoys working on time-sensitive projects.
  • Must be upbeat and have a positive attitude
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Has or able to obtain a U.S. Passport.

Preferred Experience – Not Mandatory

  • Turbomachinery, Machine Design, Rotordynamics, Thermodynamics
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Technical knowledge with hands-on experience working on machinery including automotive.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Results oriented.
  • Can multi-task and enjoys working on time-sensitive projects.
  • Must be upbeat and have a positive attitude
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Has or is able to obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Additionally fluent in one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, French or German.

Physical Requirements

Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs.

Work Schedule

Standard workdays are Monday – Friday, 7am-4pm.
